A Special Assembly

Today we had a very special Assembly for Mr Scott, Mrs Scott and Mrs Williams.  It was a wonderful celebration of their dedication and love for our school.  We will miss them a lot!

On Friday, Team Toru were able to share their writing with Super 15.  We read our recounts about our trip to Pernel Orchard.  Team Toru were very proud of their efforts!  Thank you so much to Super 15 for being such great buddies :)

Our Awesome Day!

Team Toru had an awesome day today... we started our morning off by making apple crumble with some help from our wonderful parent helpers. Each one of us got to peel an apple, before they were sliced and cooked. At ten thirty we got on a bus and headed to Pernel Orchard. We had an amazing visit... check out our slideshow below. When we got back to school we enjoyed eating our apple crumble with some icecream. What a fabulous day for the Junior Team!

Super Learning with the Junior Team today!

All of the Junior team met in the hall after lunch today to talk about FRUIT!  We shared what we already knew and then after watching one, then two Suzy's World DVDs, we discussed our new learning... awesome stuff!
Check out the thinking and sharing we did... the blue writing is our thinking before the DVDs, followed by the green and red, which details our new learning.

Mufty Day

Friday was Mufti Day.  The money raised is going towards the Year 6 Camp.  Don't we look fabulous!

Wonderful Wednesday in Team Toru!

We had a great day of learning in Team Toru today!  For our Writing we had a picture to think about... it was a picture of a monkey with a whole lot of bananas.  Then Mrs G introduced a special visitor from Team Tekau - George!  Thank you to Team Tekau for sharing George with us this morning :-) 

George is related to the baby monkey in the picture - he even came along with his own yellow banana!

Luke - The cheeky monkey is stealing my banana.

Corban - "I am not going to share my bananas.  These are my bananas" said the cousin monkey.

Fenton - I like the monkey.  It is cute.

Lily - "The cheeky monkey is going to steal my bananas" said the monkey.  My bananas now.

Joshie - The cheeky monkey is stealing the bananas.  Oo aa oo aa.  The monkey is so funny.

Abi - I don't like the monkey because the cheeky monkey went in my house and took the nana and I didn't like that because its very very naughty.

Jesse - The monkey is stealing bananas from the supermarket.

Shyne - The monkey is cheeky.

Herana - I like my cheeky monkey.

Keyshia - The cute big eyed monkey stole and monkey is cute.

Olive - The monkey stole all the bananas.

Sophie - I think the monkey is stealing all the bananas from the supermarket just like Katie.

Alex - The cute monkey is stealing the bananas.

Eraihia - The monkey is stealing some bananas from my Nan.

After morning tea we began our Reading time.  Here is a photo of the Hortons and the Lorax Reading groups working at our whiteboard table!

Our Big Book

Today we read "Snap Splash", a big book about a heron and a crab.  The heron is hungry and finds a crab to eat but... the crab wriggles and manages to splash back into the water!
