Fun Friday

Today we spent some time sharing our published writing with the rest of our class. We chose two of our favourite sentences from our descriptive writing about Puss in Boots to publish.  We worked in three groups and then gave feedback to one another - commenting on adjectives, similes and language we used to describe Puss in Boots.

We also brought along some special visitors to school today.  Lots of soft toys came to share our day with us.  It was really awesome to be able to share our toy with our friends, explaining why it was special to us and where and when we got it.

At 6 o'clock tonight we had the PTA School Disco.  The theme was Pyjama Party.  Here are some photos of Team Toru kiddos celebrating!

Captain Cash-tastic!

We had a visit from Captain Cash-tastic on Thursday.  He came in to share with us some important information about money.  We learnt about the different amounts we have and what they look like. We also learnt about how to use the money we earn - spend some, save some and share some. Captain Cash-tastic was very funny - he made silly faces and had us laughing heaps and heaps.  Thanks Captain Cash-tastic for coming in and sharing such important information :-)

Our Second Visit to the Mobile Classroom

Today Team Toru visited Anne and Harold again in the mobile classroom.  We learnt what it meant to be part of a team.  It is important to use kind words, to share and help others, to work together, and sometimes it means not doing things the way you want to do them.  Harold came out and we sang a song about being a friend.  Anne turned the stars on in the mobile classroom and the blue light, which was awesome!  Mrs Gempton really enjoyed that part!!!  Thank you so much to Anne and Harold for coming to our school and letting us visit them in their cool classroom.  We have learnt so much about what it means to stay healthy and to live a healthy life, as well as how to work together in a team :-)

Visiting Harold and Anne in the Mobile Classroom

Today Team Toru visited the mobile classroom.  Anne greeted us at the door and then we went inside.  We learnt about what our body needs to stay healthy.  Harold had gone for a morning walk and gotten lost, so he arrived a bit later on.  We are looking forward to visiting Anne and Harold again next week!

A Special Visitor at Assembly

We had a special visitor come to Mahora School today to speak to us.  Aimee Fisher, an ex-Mahora School pupil, will be competing at the Olympic games in the Canoe/Kayak Sprint.  She spoke about finding something you love, that you are made to do, and go for it!
She presented all of the new Value certificates to the amazing learners at Mahora School.

Our Butterfly

Today Team Toru were lucky enough to see one of our butterflies get ready to fly away.  It came out of it's cocoon just before lunch and then we let it go outside later on in the afternoon.  We enjoyed watching it open and close it's wings as it got ready to fly :-)

Vintage Car Rides

Today four vintage cars came to Mahora School.  The drivers were all dressed up in Art Deco outfits, and Team Toru did too!  We wore beads, hats, bowties and ribbons.  All of us got to go in a vintage car.  We drove two laps around the school field.  It was awesome fun!

Trixie the Fairy

This afternoon Trixie the Fairy came to entertain us.  She was able to perform lots of magic tricks.  Trixie was also very, very funny and she made us laugh a lot!  It was her baby's birthday - her baby was a teddy bear :-)
