Tuakana Teina Buddies - Room 11

Today we had our very first get-together with our Tuakana Teina buddies.  Room 11 and Miss BT came over to our class.  We paired up with our new buddy and then Team Toru shared their Writing. Room 11 children had been learning about WOW words and had also been talking about how to give feedback.

Whanau Night

We had an amazing night last night.  Thank you to all of the families that came along to share in the evening :-)  It was great to be able to talk about what is, and what will be happening in Team Toru.  We are going to have a fabulous year!

Maths Fun Today

Today Team Toru had a couple of challenges.  Firstly we had to count out 30 matchsticks.  Using all 30 matchsticks, we had to write our name... we were not allowed to use any more, and had to use all that we had.  We then had to use the same matchsticks to make a face.  Team Toru worked very hard to rise to the challenge!

Vintage Car Rides

Today four vintage cars came to Mahora School.  The drivers were all dressed up in Art Deco outfits, and Team Toru did too!  We wore beads, hats, bowties and ribbons.  All of us got to go in a vintage car.  We drove two laps around the school field.  It was awesome fun!

Picnic lunch under the Trees

Today Team Toru decided to go under the trees to eat our lunch.  We had a lovely time eating and talking.  It was lovely and cool too!

Day Two in Team Toru

We had a very busy day of learning today.  Team Toru tamariki finished their photo frames and glued their photos in - come and check these out in our cloakbay!  We also created a giant Rainbow Fish.  As a reading focus we have been looking at the story about the Rainbow Fish - we have learnt that by caring and sharing, we feel good inside and make friends!  Today we also really focused on one of our Mahora Values... RESPECT.  We have realised how very important it is to respect each other and the things around us.  Team Toru recognise that at Mahora, this involves caring about others, and our class and school.  AWESOME THINKING TODAY TEAM TORU!

Super Fun on Day One!

Team Toru had an amazing first day.  We had a special Assembly, where we let off poppers and released balloons into the sky.  We got our frames ready for our photos, made a puzzle and also worked with small sticks at Maths time to create shapes and designs.
An awesome effort Team Toru.   Mrs Gempton thinks that you have fabulous learning attitudes!

Welcome Back for 2016!

Hi Team Toru tamariki and whanau!  
I am so excited that school is back on Monday 1 February.  I can't wait to see you all and get to know you.  Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you on Monday morning.
