BEES, BEES, BUZZING BEES!
We have been learning lots about Bees this term. Here is a brainstorm of what we already know....
The Queen Bee:
1. She lays eggs in the Honeycomb.
2. She tells the Bees what they have to do.
3. She lays 100,000 Eggs a day!
4. She is the Boss.
The Worker Bees:
1. They get pollen and nectar from the flowers to feed to the Larvae.
2. They make the hives and honeycombs.
3. They stir the nectar with their long tongues.
4. They look after the eggs in the honeycomb.
5. The Worker Bees clean the hive.
6. They work all day and rest at night, just like us!
The Life Cycle of Bee:
We have learn the different stages of a Bee.
1. Egg
2. Larvae
3. Pupa
4. Adult Bee
Tomorrow we are going to the Arataki Honey Farm. We have lots of questions to ask.... Here are some of them...
What do the Worker Bees make the Honeycomb out of?
How do the Worker Bees make the Honey?
Why do Bees have sharp things to sting people and why do they die after?
How do the Worker Bees sting people with their little little stingers?
We can't wait to find out all the answers to our Questions! Stay tuned for some answers!

Our e-Learning Gurus in Room 3
On Tuesday night, some of Room 3 showed the adults of Mahora School what clever cookies they were on the i-Pads. We showed our Mums and Dads how we use the i-Pads to enhance our learning in Room 3. Thank you to all those parents that braved the rain and came out to support our fantastic School.

A special visitor came to Room 3!
On Monday, Thomas Benton brought a special visitor into meet us in Room 3. He brought his pet kitten and her name was Rosie.
He picked Rosie up from the SPCA. She is very little. We all had a turn at patting Rosie. We thought she felt very soft and fluffy.
Lots of us thought she looked cute and we loved having Rosie in our classroom.

What we know about Bees...
Yesterday we formed some ideas about what we already know about Bees. Room 3 found out that we are quite clever! We can't find to find out more about Bees and start asking some questions about what Bees do!
Our big idea is 'Bee’s have jobs in their hives just like we have jobs to do to be a Piki Haere learner'.

Room 3 are super writers!
We have been trying super hard in our writing this term. In Room 3 we have been working on listening for all the sounds in words and writing them down. This week we wrote about Superheroes.

Ariella:
My Superhero is called Batman. He is happy. He is blue. He is super. He is cool and he got blue hair. He fights bad people.
Molly:
My Superhero is called Super Girl. She is a happy. She is a black cat. She eats rabbits. She has a pink dress on. She plays soccer out on the field.
Thomas B:
MySuperhero is called Captain Underpants. He can jump tall buildings without getting a wedgie. He can give badies wedgies. All Superheros look like they are flying around in their Underwear. Captain Underpants saves a school.
Ethan:
My Superhero is a boy. He can fight badies. He is blue and red.
Jarrod:
My Superhero's name is Thomas G. He can fire bats at people. The bats eat people and take their heads off. They take the heads to Batman and Batman kicks their head to the sun and they burn.
