Goodbye Stasia

Today we had to say goodbye to our lovely classmate Stasia.  Her family are moving and so today was her last day at Mahora School.
All the very best at your new school Stasia.  We will miss you a lot!

Whisper Phones

On Wednesday Team Toru had a wonderful surprise :-)  We were given a special present from Mr and Mrs Perry.  They had made us some whisper phones for our Reading...
After Reading with Mrs Gempton, we can use our whisper phones to read our story again.  It is a great way to really hear how we read.

A great start to Week 2

Team Toru had an awesome start to Week 2 of Term 3.  As part of our hotspot for Maths this morning, we thought of different ways to write a number.  We did the number ten today... we wrote the numeral, the number before and after, what it looks like on a tens frame, how we could show it using dice and we also wrote different number sentences for 10.  Children had 5 + 5, 6 + 4, 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1, 20 - 10, 3 + 3 + 4... Great thinking Team Toru!

At Reading time, there were two Dr Seuss jigsaws to have a go at.  Look at these great problem solvers!

Super Writers

We had some amazing writing happening this week.  Five children went to visit Mr Pearse on Friday because they had worked so very, very hard and written their very best stories.  Ka pai tamariki!
Two stories were super jelly stories while the other three, were the retelling of "The Cat in the Hat".

Jelly Making and Eating fun!

On Wednesday we made jelly.  We made yellow, green, red and purple jelly.  Team Toru had fun smelling, mixing and eating it!  Look at these happy faces :-)

Welcome Back to Term 3

Welcome back to all children and whanau of Team Toru.  We are having a Reading and Book focus this term. On Monday the children arrived back to school to see that Dr Seuss has visited our class :-)

Tuakana Teina with Room 11

On Monday afternoon we got together with our Tuakana Teina Buddies.  We worked in groups to do a science experiment using milk, food colouring and dish washing liquid.  It was awesome to see the colours swirl around!

After that we read to our buddies and heard them read their stories.

We had great fun working with our Tuakana Teina buddies!
