Visiting Harold and Anne in the Mobile Classroom

Today Team Toru visited the mobile classroom.  Anne greeted us at the door and then we went inside.  We learnt about what our body needs to stay healthy.  Harold had gone for a morning walk and gotten lost, so he arrived a bit later on.  We are looking forward to visiting Anne and Harold again next week!

Art - Fireworks

On Friday we watched the fireworks from the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.  We noticed that the fireworks exploded outwards.  Using paint, we created our own fireworks.  Team Toru are looking forward to seeing the Opening Ceremony for the Rio Olympic Games.  I wonder if they will have fireworks too?

Welcome Back for Term 3

Tena koutou Team Toru whanau!  We have had a super first day back for Term 3.  Our brains are switched on and ready for learning.
Today we had a look at the new set-up of our room and chose our new seat for the beginning of the term... then the learning started!
We will be learning about what makes an Olympic attitude - how does someone get to the Olympics?  What characteristics do they need to be an Olympian?  But for today, we just thought about what we know about the Olympic Games - a new thing for all of the class who were not old enough to remember the games from four years ago!!!  Mrs Gempton had a huge torch in the middle of the room... I wonder what that is for?
We also did some fabulous mathematical thinking around number for our hotspot.  Check out the suggestions of how to make 12 on our board that we came up with :-)
Bring on the term!

Stem Day

We had an awesome day on Friday.  It was Stem Day... which means a day with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  Team Toru moved around Team 2 classrooms in their FMS groups.  Some of us created tents, others made helicopters, others created codes, whilst still others made bridges.  Lots and lots of discovering!  We also made our own lunch... wraps with either chicken or ham, and carrot, lettuce and cheese.  Yum!
