Our Final Week in Team Toru

We have had the most wonderful final week in Team Toru.  On Monday we had Art Day.  We were grouped with other members of the Junior Team and then moved around two classrooms making very awesome Christmas bits and pieces!!!!

On Tuesday night we had our Final Assembly.  We were able to sing our two special songs that we had been practising for a long time.  Lots of our Mahora Whanau came to be a part of this wonderful celebrations.  The Year 6's were presented with their awards and prizes.

On the last day of school, we were all invited to see the Senior children put their pou in place out in the native garden area.  The big boys performed a haka as the tamariki from Rooms 12, 13, 14 and 15 carried their class pou to where it would be placed.  A couple of children from each class explained the significance of what they had painted on their class pou.  Thank you so much Seniors, for letting us be a part of such a special time for you!  Ka mau te wehi!

Farewell Assembly

We had a good-bye assembly for some special teachers leaving Mahora School.  Two very special ladies are leaving - Miss Kittow, who is heading away overseas and Miss Meulenbrugge who is starting a new exciting job...  We will miss you!!!!

Drawing at Art Time

Today we were looking at Tapa Cloths and how these are created.  We looked at the patterns and designs on these.   Using this as a starting point, we created our own tapa inspired patterns using jovi crayon and black vivids.  We think we did a pretty amazing job!
Here are 6 of our creations so far...

Shop Day Today

This morning we had Shop Day.  The Year 6 children had stalls selling lollies, bracelets, cakes, fruit kebabs, sausages, playdough... as well as car rides, a water slide and horse rides... not to mention nail painting and hair chalking!
Team Toru had a fabulous time supporting this wonderful event!
