An Awesome Day in Team Toru

Wow... what a day!  Lots of exciting new learning experiences happening in Team Toru!
First up we continued our simile and description focus... we blew bubbles and had lots of fun as we found words to describe the bubbles.

After play we worked with our Tuakana Teina buddies in Room 11 and played Fraction Olympics.  What awesome fun!  We got to throw 'javelin' (cotton buds), 'shotput' (cotton balls) and do 'long jump' (counters).  We then measured our throws using half circles, to find how many halves and wholes we had thrown.  Super fraction learning!

After play it was Ako time with our Team Tahi, Team Rua and Team Wha buddies.  Lots of sharing and working together going on!
Wow... I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Fabulous Learning in Team Toru

We had a fabulous start to Week 4.  At the beginning of the day we started our Maths with a challenge, for Maths Week.  We had word problems that we worked on with our learning buddies - each correct answer allowed us to collect a dollar which we kept a total of using tally marks.  I wonder which pair will earn the most dollars by the end of the week's challenges?

At Writing time we started to learn about similes...
Check out this link to play a game with your child.
Similes Game

Last week we worked on writing instructions.  By the end of the week we wrote instructions on how to be a 'Top Team Toru Kid.'  Have a look in our classroom at our display :-)
